Sorreña

Spooky Cinema 2026

Welcome to the return of our Sorreña Spooky Cinema Series! It's been a few years since we last hosted one, but now that we're back in town we're exciting to bring this tradition back. This year we'll be screening movies on Thursdays through the month of October, starting with The Witch on October 8th. Doors will open at 7pm, with the movie starting at 7:30pm. We'll always at least provide popcorn, sparkling water, and beer, but feel free to bring a snack or drink to share. We look forward to seeing y'all for some scary fun time this month!

The VVitch (2015)

Thursday, October 8

A slow-burn, The Witch focuses its energy on creating a realistic interpretation of a European family's homestead in 1630s Massachusetts, and less on jump-scares or gore. When unexplained things start happening around their farm, the religious family suspects evil forces living in the surrounding woods. Anya Taylor-Joy's first starring role in a major film, she plays the eldest daughter who the family starts to suspect is a witch. As bad things continue to happen, what will her parents' religious fervor cause them to do? And is she, maybe, really a witch?

The Monkey (2025)

Thursday, October 15

This is a weird one. Image a cross between Final Destination and Jumanji, with an oddball sense of humor. There will be gory accidental deaths, caused by an evil Monkey toy that refuses to be destroyed or gotten rid of until it is satisfied. There are also many absurdist touches and several laugh out loud moments as we learn the story of twin brothers who receive the evil monkey from their father as a gift. After much tragedy, the boys manage to get rid of the Monkey and we pick up a couple decades later, following one of the twins when he discovers the Monkey is still out there. If you can stomach some gnarly deaths and like horror with some laughs, I think you'll really enjoy this one.

Backrooms (2026)

Thursday, October 22

One of the breakout horror hits of 2026, I don't know much about this one and I think it's better to leave it that way. Let's explore the back rooms together.

Mandy (2018)

Thursday, October 29

We'll end our cinema series with an arthouse horror film starring Nicholas Cage. When evil men take his wife, Nicholas Cage seeks bloody revenge in a visually rich phantasmagoric journey. Expect this one to be weird and trippy.
